DAY 3- ROUTINE DEADENS THE HEART

I suppose that the title is true of most aspects of life. But when talking about exercise, it is true without a doubt.  Metaphorically and possibly even literally!  What's the remedy for this?  Change it up!
I change my class type AND format in every single class. No two workouts are ever the same. Our bodies adapt very quickly to routine.  Once adapted, few to no further gains can be accomplished.  This is why so many wonder why you've gotten so far but can't seem to lose that last 5 or 10 pounds.

In order to keep your body challenged, you must break the routine and it doesn't have to mean HUGE changes. 
If you're used to walking on the treadmill at 3.8, vary it by going up a little for a few seconds. Bring it back down. Then increase the incline. Bring it back down.  If you lift weights, (and you better be!) instead of using the same few machines, change it up with some dumbells. And by all means, increase your weight gradually!  There's ZERO benefit in going to the gym and lifting the same 5 lbs. you've been lifting for the past 5 years!  I cannot emphasize that enough.  And ladies paleeeeease don't worry about BULK! That's so 1980's thinking.  It ain't happening!  So go heavy or go home!

Instead of going out and stocking up on water for the pending storm, go buy some weights and a jump rope!
