O.K. so my poetry is pretty simple but I tried.
Anyway, I'd like to talk about the inquiries I typically get in regard to joining classes or even just working out in general. It usually goes something like this,
Caller: Hi, I wanted to find out about your classes.
Me: Sure. How can I help you?
Caller: Well, I'm completely out of shape so I didn't know if I could just come into any class.
Me: I'd be happy to help guide you as to which classes would be most beneficial to start out with.
Caller: But I'm in my 50's and I haven't worked out in a few years. I used to work out all the time but I don't really like going to big gyms.
Me: That's why we're here. For those who don't like working out in gyms!
Then I ask a few more questions and based on the answers I'll suggest a class for them to try.
If you recognize yourself in this conversation, let me help put your mind at ease. I proudly serve all ages, shapes and levels but the majority of women who come to our studio are not only 50 plus but some are well into their 60's AND 70's! Out of those, I'd say only a handful are women who had worked out on a regular basis before coming to me. Since coming to me, the women who have been the most consistent are those age 60 and over and have not only noticed improved health and strength but lean, cut arms and legs to go with it!
Some come in with a whole host of problems too. Some have gone through major illness and medical treatment and had to incorporate a fitness program into their lives to boost immunity.
Do you see how a fitness program is first about health and wellness? The weight loss/maintenance and building a leaner musculature is just icing on the cake.
The other thing is, while I understand the reluctance to go into a new place feeling out of shape and not really knowing what to expect can be intimidating, most existing participants whether it be in a gym or my boutique studio are not judging you or why you're there. They are there for their own workout and trust me, these ladies work hard!
An added bonus in my studio is that it is NOT a big gym so everyone gets to know each other and help each other out. When there is equipment to be used and one of my members knows "Susie Q" usually stands in front of her but she's not there yet, her equipment will be set up for her. Same goes for when we break it down. Everyone pitches in to put everyone else's weights, mats, etc...away.
If you're in the area, I encourage you to stop by and audit or participate in one of our classes. There are several to choose from and cater to all levels. But remember wherever you are, it is NEVER TOO LATE!
