YOU ARE IN CONTROL

There are some things that are out of our control. Just for fun let's list a few.

Traffic when you're already running late.

The ridiculous line at the grocery store when you run in for one item that you absolutely need.

Your flight is delayed or canceled.

You get the picture.  But what about weight control?  Is that within our control? Unless you have a medical condition preventing you from losing weight then the answer is a big FAT yes! What you put in your mouth, how often you exercise, etc...is all within your control.  Even when you have that last stubborn 5 or 10 lbs. left that just won't come off, how you handle that is still in your control.  Honestly, everything else is just an excuse.  For fun, now let's list some of them.

I'm too tired.

I don't feel well.

My back hurts.

My kids won't let me. (Yep. Heard that one many times)

They bought me a cake for my birthday. I had to eat it!

Well, maybe. But if you had been honest and upfront about it before you had your birthday get together, they most likely wouldn't have gotten you the cake.  Oh, and the same goes for those birthday drinks. No need people. No need!

Don't get me wrong. There are times when you may actually be too exhausted and those are the times you should listen to your body. But determine the degree of exhaustion as well as the source.  If you're mentally exhausted because you had a horrible day at work, that would be the best time to get in an endorphin-boosting workout.   And unless you have a fever or the flu, get your ass moving! Light to moderate exercise when you're not feeling so hot helps your immune system.

All the above stress-related incidents can increase your desire to curl up and feed your face and not want to get up and move. Instead, try reading a book or indulge in a gossip magazine.  Drink more water. Most of the time your mind is telling you you're hungry when in fact you may actually be thirsty without realizing it. Have a relaxing cup of tea. Or, if caffeine doesn't bother you, drink a cup of coffee to ward off hunger!  If you really can't stand to be without food at this moment, reach for fruit with a dab of real whipped cream or a half of a banana with peanut butter. And call it a night. Yum!!!  If you have some home equipment hanging around. Put on the T.V. and use it!  Jump around with light weights or get on the floor and do some planks!

I'm just as guilty especially in the Winter of wanting to stuff my face and yes, many times I do. O.k., o.k, I'm human!!  But I don't mope around afterward or go straight to bed after indulging in unnecessary fat-filled stuff.  I jump on my mini trampoline. I hula hoop. I do some planks. Yeah. But I also work out for a living so I have a little (just a little) more room than the average person to fit a bit more guilty pleasures in.

Losing weight is easier for some than it is for others. Granted, many factors come into the equation. Genetics.  Age. Whether you're a male or female. But all of them can be conquered with the right amount of discipline. Keep balance and moderation in mind both for food and exercise. It IS within your control. And if you're still struggling, call me!💪
