WHY YOU SHOULDN'T RELY ON YOUR SCALE TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH

As a fitness professional if I had a dollar for every time someone asked me, "why isn't my scale moving when I've been so good about cutting calories and working out" I'd be very wealthy. I've always given the same answer but here it is for everyone else in a more scientific explanation.  In the first few weeks of any weight-loss program you are more likely to see a rapid reduction in weight making you very happy😀  But most of this, unfortunately, is not mostly from fat loss which is what you want, but rather water loss. Making you not so happy😠 When calories from food are reduced, the body gets its' energy by releasing stored glycogen.  Glycogen is a type of carbohydrate found in the muscles and liver.  Glycogen holds onto water. When glycogen is called upon to burn for energy, it releases water resulting in what you see as weight loss.

So when you ask this question and the answer you get is,  "because it's mostly water weight", this is why.
So what do we do to actually see the scale numbers go down?  Keep up what you're doing and do it consistently. Once your body recognizes this, it will adjust accordingly and you will begin to see an actual reduction in number and inches.  Giving up in the first few weeks because your scale isn't showing you what you want, is a grave mistake! Scales lie which is why I usually don't use them with my clients.
A reasonable reduction in calorie intake plus an additional deficit from exercise consistently will show the results you're looking for. Don't rely on your scale!
